A glass pendant light is a great way to add a fine touch to a room in a home or often seen in restaurants, the workplace or in showrooms. These lights are designed in many different ways, some more simple than others.
One of the more popular types of glass pendant lights are mini pendant lights. It’s much easier to find this type of light in the contemporary form. My favorite type of mini pendant glass light is the icicle style. It got this name because it’s in the shape of natural icicles. Everyone loves the beauty that icicles form during those snowy winter days!
Now in my opinion, the most special type of glass pendant is obviously the custom route. While this is easily the most expensive, it’s also the most unique. I’ve seen many different companies (even online nowadays) where you can choose your color, design on the glass, shades surrounding the bulbs and all the way down to every little detail. Expect to pay $250 and up for a custom light.
If you like this idea, then you’ll probably also like Tiffany-style pendant lights. These have been popular for a very long time, as they were some of the first lamps and lights to be made. Known for the beautiful stained glass, this can really change a room. Tiffany lights can be found in many different styles. They come in Victorian style, rustic, mission and contemporary as well. I’ve seen some beautiful options on overstock.com, target.com or jcpenny.com. They vary in price from $60 and up.
If you really don’t have a budget, then forget the custom pendants and go for the custom chandeliers! They usually have a similar effect as far as lighting a room, but a chandelier is a bit more luxurious. This won’t work in all places though. You’re not going to put a chandelier over the pool table or over the counter in the kitchen. So first we must figure out where to place these glass pendant lights.
I’m a big believer in good lighting. If you have a room in the house that’s not getting enough light, that’s a start. High ceilings are also a great feature to look for. Then we want to try to keep the pendant as symmetrical as possible. So placing it over the center of a dining room table, or right in the middle of the foyer are two common spots for this type of lighting.
The styles mentioned above are all single glass pendant lights, so now let’s discuss some multiple glass pendant lights. These are usually found in bigger areas, since they take up more space. Typically, they’ll have multiple lights hanging from one center piece. I’ve seen anywhere from two lights hanging and I’ve seen up to 25 lights hanging.
Since there are so many different styles, please make sure to search until you find exactly what you’re looking for. Hopefully after reading this, you’ll know the type of glass pendant light you’re looking for.
